Killdee
I was walking around in the vineyard where we are installing the drip lines and I saw this bird acting strangely. The bird was a Killdee and it was pretending to be hurt so that I would be attracted to it and lure me away from it's nest. You can see what it looked like in this picture.

When I took a step towards it the bird would move on a little ways and do its act all over again. I was use to seeing other birds do the wounded bird act to lure you away from their nest so I thought I would try and find this bird's nest. We were working right in that area so marking the nest so we didn't step on the eggs seemed to be a good idea. The nest was right next to a drip line and we came really close to stepping on it. There were four eggs in the nest and they blended in with the ground like they were little stones. I set out a few markers so that we could see where the nest is and to avoid the area. I can't wait to see the little ones hatch because they are born with their eyes open and start running around with their parents immediatlty. Here is the picture on the eggs on the ground.
